Wet Wet Wet return to Manchester

On 25 July 1995 iconic Scottish pop-rock band Wet Wet Wet made history by being the first band ever to perform at Manchester's new arena. 

The arena was known as the NYNEX back then and to celebrate this momentous occasion, the band were presented with an artists impression of the new building.

Wet Wet Wet also joined in the celebrations for Manchester Arena's 20th anniversary year. Drummer Tommy Cunningham spoke to our friends at the Manchester Evening News to remember that first gig. He said: “We liked the layout of the arena, it’s purpose-built to create an atmosphere. It’s like those classic arenas in Athens. We looked around it and thought ‘this is really proper’."
